Deputy Minister for youth and sports, Joseph Yammin has lashed out against Citizens who accuse the government of looting the country’s resources.
The Deputy Minister who was speaking to rawgist.com on the President’s 10 million Ghana Cedi fund for young entrepreneurs explained that the fund is different from any other existing fund.
“This is a different fund in that this one is a start-up fund. Some of the existing funds are for SMEs but this is for those now trying to set up. People with good proposals will have to put them together, forward them to the secretariat and an evaluation will be done to determine who qualifies”, he said.
He dismissed claims that the fund would be used as favours for party faithful. He insisted that such comments were borne out of bad faith and hypocrisy.
“I have a problem with anyone who wants to demonise everything in this country. Those who say the government creates, loots and shares, are not being fair to government. People will definitely benefit whether or not they are party people…..but even if they are given to party cronies, I think they are also Ghanaians who deserve to receive a part of the national cake”, the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister said.
Mr. Yammin encouraged the youth to prepare to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the fund.
