The Senior Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Cocobod, Mr Noah Kwasi Amenyah has stated his outfit’s determination to promote and publicize products from the cocoa industry.
This, he disclosed is to ensure that the purchase and consumption of cocoa products become the choice of citizens.
Addressing the media at a brief press conference today at the Cocobod House in Adum, the central business district of Kumasi, Mr Amenyah reiterated the desire of management to make cocoa products the choicest beverage served at State and government functions across the country.
According to him, there is a lot to derive from cocoa consumption including its nutritional and health benefits since the cocoa drink has proven to be an effective medicine to treat diabetes and hypertension.
INVESTMENT DRIVE:
The Public Affairs Manager mentioned moves by some foreign as well as some indigenous cocoa companies to set up business in the country.
According to him, the company has had interests from the Kingdom of Iran as well as China, who he noted are getting ready to set up business in the country to explore the value addition potentials of cocoa.
Wamco, a notable Ghanaian company that recently folded up business has been granted support by government to restart its activities aimed at adding value to the cocoa produced in Ghana.
Already, Mr Amenyah disclosed the employment of about 50,000 people in the youth in cocoa production drive introduced by government, adding the set up of these companies would create additional job opportunities for the unemployed in the country.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Enumerating some programs the company has planned to inculcate the consumption of cocoa products in the populace, the Public Affairs Manager disclosed the launch of cocoa consumption in Kumasi on the 2nd of October next month.
The four day activity, Mr Amenyah noted will afford traders in cocoa products and services the opportunity to exhibit their goods.
He announced the official conferring of the title of Cocoa Ambassador on the Asante King, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II at the grand ceremony on the 2nd of October.
The King, the Public Affairs Manger indicated has accepted to lead the crusade for the regular consumption of cocoa products.
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to officially open the four day program and kick start the revolution to ensure the consumption of cocoa products all year round.
Other programs such as a recipe and quiz shows to be participated by students from the country’s technical universities have also been planned in the month of October.
