Ghana Health News-Breast Care International (BCI) through its partners Direct-Relief in the United States of America (USA) has supplied drugs worth several thousands of dollars to hospitals based in the Central Region of Ghana.
This forms part of the annual drug supply to hospitals in the country including medical facilities located in remote areas of the regions.
Presenting the drugs to the Central Regional Health Director at the precincts of Peace and Love Hospital in Kumasi, Dr Beatrice Wiafe-Addai charged the beneficiary hospitals to make good use of the drugs.
She asked that the hospitals advance the drugs freely as has been given to them by Direct-Relief and BCI.
‘’It’s a pleasure to represent Direct-Relief who are partners with BCI to give these drugs to hospitals in the Central Region and it is our hope that just as you are receiving these freely you also apply them to patients freely’’, Dr Wiafe Addai stressed.
COMMITMENT:
Speaking to this reporter later, Dr Wiafe Addai indicated the commitment of Direct-Relief to supply more drugs to support hospitals in Ghana.
These supplies, the BCI CEO noted is meant to treat and deal with conditions and illnesses that are most reported at these health centers across the country.
Dr Addai disclosed that Direct-Relief monitors the application of the supplies and would desist from sending same if it is not used as intended.
BCI and Direct-Relief, the cancer surgeon mentioned is eternally concerned about the wellbeing of Ghanaians and is committed to providing such medical supplies to enable hospitals treat the sick.
RESPONSE:
Receiving the medical supplies on behalf of the hospitals in the Central Region, Dr Alexis Nang-Beifubah thanked Direct-Relief for the support.
He also expressed appreciation for the continued supply of very important and needful drugs to hospitals in Ghana.
The Central Regional GHS Director promised to ensure the drugs are dispatched from the directorate to all the beneficiary clinics and health facilities across the region.
He disclosed a strict monitoring mechanism will be put in place to ensure the drugs are used for its intended purposes and given to patients freely.
