Disc Jockey Sensation, DJ Zel Donates Books to Ortsir MA Basic School.

The United Kingdom 🇬🇧 based sensational Ghanaian disc-jockey, DJ Zel known privately as Zelda Nana Yaa Adepa Dedaa Manteaw on Monday donated about one thousand pieces of exercise books 📚 to the Ortsir MA Basic School in Saltpond.

Speaking to this reporter after the donation and a public demonstration of her DJ skills, DJ Zel said the gesture was to encourage the pupils to take their academic work seriously.

She noted that upon information from a community leader, she and her Heartfelt Philanthropic Network members decided to donate the books and other educational items to the Basic School.

“My family and I including my charity organisation are delighted to have the opportunity to give to Ortsir school. This is apart from many other donations we’ve done previously including the provision of consumables to patients at the Surgical Ward of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital 🏥(KATH) as well as the support to children found on the streets of Accra”, DJ Zel stated.

Support System:
DJ Zel who started displaying her disc jockey skills from infancy, has now become a global sensational artist performing at many high profile events across the world 🌎.

In 2019 and 2020, the young female artist used her foundation to raise about seven thousand pounds to support the needy and has since been featured on BBC.

DJ Zel started the 11 for 11 campaign at 11 years old during the COVID-19 lockdown to address issues of food, education and poverty in Africa.

The campaign gained coverage from BBC, iTV, Sky News, Channel 4 and others resulting in donations that exceeded £7000 to support her philanthropic work.

Currently, DJ Zel uses funds from her shea butter cream business as well as what she raises from her excellent art to support her philanthropic works and donations in Ghana 🇬🇭 and elsewhere.

Challenges:
Being a black artist, the young UK 🇬🇧 resident says the biggest challenge to her art and craft has been racism.

In school and during performances at some places in UK 🇬🇧, she noted that some persons look down on her skin color and sometimes use abusive language on her.

Motivation:
DJ Zel noted that her motivation despite the challenges she face in life has been an inner resolve to do well and the profound support she gets from her family especially her mum, Ms Jennifer Manteaw (Mama Zel) who inspires her to do the best for humanity.

She noted that her heartbeat is to use her talent and education to support the less privileged and the vulnerable in the society.

On her part, Mama Zel, mother of DJ Zel reiterated the family’s commitment to supporting the philanthropic work of their relative.

She asked parents and guardians to consciously work to harness the talents and potentials in their kids for the benefit of the Ghanaian society.

Appreciation:
Jacob Amissah, Headmaster Ortsir MA School, Saltpond in the Mfantseman Municipality thanked DJ Zel and her team members for the donation.

He stated that pupils struggle at times to get exercise books 📚 to carry out their assignments at the house 🏠.

This donation of books and other learning aids, the Headmaster noted was a welcome geture.

“My staff and the pupils in this school as well as the entire community are grateful to DJ Zel and her team including her family for choosing to donate these items to us and we pray that others learn from this and do likewise to support the education of the Ghanaian people”, the Headmaster intimated.
