Medical doctors across the country are threatening to resign en-masse if their service conditions are not improved in seven months.
The doctors say the only benefit they are enjoying now is a two-week mortuary service.
They have given government an ultimatum of 30th June 2015 to comprehensively review their service conditions, or they leave the health profession entirely.
Dr. Frank Serebour, General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, (GMA) told Starr News that their conditions of service are unacceptable.
“We have indicated clearly that we work in the Health sector and we don’t have conditions of service, the only condition of service that people in the Health sector have – which is not even written – is that when you die you get two weeks of mortuary services.
“So we have come to the conclusion that we are going to give government up to the 30th of June 2015 to sort this issue out. Beyond which all doctors who are affected, we will declare ourselves unemployed,” Dr. Serebour said.
