Yaw Brogya Genfi, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC) has alleged the NPP government is planning to use funds from the students loan trust to pay for the allowance of teacher trainees in the country.
According to him, this is contrary to both the law and regulation governing the administration of the loan.
Consequently, he has urged teacher trainees to be mindful of what they will be applying for when the time is due for them to fill forms to collect the said teacher training allowance.
Speaking to this reporter today, Mr Brogya called on teacher trainees to be vigilant in rushing to pick forms to fill for the ‘vote catching’ allowance.
This, he said is because trainees will in future be required to pay back every dime they collected from the trust fund when they were in school.
REVELATION:
Giving more detail, Mr Genfi disclosed Principals of all teacher trainees have been summoned to a meeting where the mode of application was discussed.
According to him, the Principals have been charged to explain to the trainees to apply through the Students Loan Trust secretariat.
Mr Genfi wondered why the government is seeking to swindle trainee teachers when they know what they are doing is wrong.
DECEPTION:
He believed the government is employing same method they used to deceive nursing students to swindle teacher trainees in the country.
‘’How can you use foul means to pay what you call allowance when you know the trainees would have to pay back the money you are advancing’’, Mr Brogya Genfi posited.
