Don’t pick up the negativities of Western music-Morgan Heritage to African musicians

Grammy award winners for 2017 Morgan Heritage are asking musicians on the African continent to stop fueling rivalries and impact positivity through their music.

“Lyrical rivalry does not help. We’ve been through too much to be going up against each other” they said in an interview with Eli Kharis on Rhythmz live; an entertainment programme on GHone TV.

They revealed they enjoy Ghana so much they want to make it their home away from home.

On the issue of Ghana jollof versus Nigerian jollof, Morgan Heritage scored Ghana higher marks than Nigeria.

They prayed music in Africa will remain positive and advised Ghanaian musicians not to emulate the violence, degradation of women and other negatives that characterized western music. They also stressed the importance of unity within the music fraternity.

Morgan Heritage who are also doing their Africa Jamaica tour say they are doing their best to “awaken the African consciousness” through their music and hoped other Africans will follow suit.

They exhibited great knowledge of the Ghanaian reggae/dancehall landscape and the players therein and announced their readiness to collaborate with the “best of the best” who have taken time to perfect their craft. They stressed on the need for young artiste to diligently hone their craft in order to become world class.

  1. At last, at last someone has said that Ghana should focus on leaving the negativity of western music out of the local scene, better still trash it completely; it is super destructive to mind, body and spirit. Well said guys. Now get on with real musical soul of Ghana
