As the Easter festivities draw near, the Ghana Police service says it is set to ensure security across the country.
Commissioner of Police (COP), George Alex Mensah tells journalists 14,000 police personnel will be deployed across the country during the celebrations.
He says the personnel will be drawn from such units as the Special Weapon Tactics (SWAT), Rapid Deployment Force, Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Counter Terrorism Unit, Highway Patrols, Formed Police Unit, and Marine Police Unit (MPU), among others.
These deployments will target beaches, convention centers, churches, public places including pubs and restaurants.
He stressed that some 500 police personnel will be deployed to Kwahu to support the Eastern Regional command during the Easter festivities in that part of the country.
Also, 100 Policemen will be sent to the Ashanti Region to ensure security during the 20 years anniversary celebrations of the enstoolment of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
