EC will disenfranchise many with conduct of limited registration exercise-Ashanti NDC

The NDC in the Ashanti region say they are not happy with the manner in which the limited registration exercise is being conducted by the Electoral Commission.

Today is day 2 of the limited registration exercise which presents another opportunity for unregistered but qualified people to register and subsequently vote in the country’s elections.

The NDC in the Ashanti region however believe the EC is disenfranchising many by asking them to return the next day after they have traveled significant distances to the district offices to register. The NDC believes that many of these people who are poor are not likely to return for the registration.

Ashanti regional Chairman of the NDC; Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi who was speaking on Kumasi-based Fox FM said on their rounds they realized that most of the EC’s offices are doing about 80% offline registration instead of the announced online registration they announced.

He says the NDC will not accept this. He revealed that the party is officially going to meet with the EC on the matter today.

He also pointed out how the NPP and their members are busing people to register because they are the people who have money and access to state resources but lamented that the NDC is unable to do same since they cannot afford it.
