Election 2016: Action Youth for Mahama to storm Ashanti

Political group; Action Youth for Mahama has resolved to ensure victory for President John Mahama and the NDC in Ghana’s general elections slated for November, 2016.

Financial Director of the group, who is also a former aspiring MP for Nalerigu Gambaga Constituency, tells rawgist.com the group has been functioning in Accra since its inception almost a year ago in Accra. Haruna Ibn Yahaya Musa says the group, comprising young professionals in various fields are determined to do whatever it takes with their own resources to ensure that President John Mahama wins another term in office as President of Ghana.

He reveals that Action Youth for Mahama has set its sight on the Ashanti region hence their decision to do their national launch in Kumasi. “We believe that if we work very well in the Ashanti region, even the one million votes the President is targeting in the region is an underestimation. We can do a lot better than one million votes in Ashanti and that’s why we are storming the place starting next week. Our presence is going to be felt very heavily”, he told rawgist.com’s Bernard Buachi, adding that the group is targeting 1.5 million votes for President John Mahama in the region.

He says the group has helped strengthen the party structures in Accra and is poised to help the party in the Ashanti region do same after its launch on May 28, 2016. Action Youth for Mahama believes their presence in the Ashanti region will help NDC Serial callers who are currently refusing to work due to some unaddressed challenges they face. Haruna Yahaya explains that serial callers in Accra are now excited about their job because of help rendered by the Action Youth for Mahama group and expects that same will be done for those in the Ashanti region.

The group, he explains resources itself through members’ contributions to campaign for President Mahama and the NDC. “Our first objective was to galvanize the youth to register during the limited registration exercise and we are now looking at early voting on the election day since we lost several votes because people turned out late to vote during the last elections”, the group’s financial Director explained and called for interested youth who have the zeal of working to retain the NDC in power to join the Action Youth for Mahama.

He revealed that some of the people forming the core of the group include the Chairman; Hon. Abdul Jalil who is also former aspiring MP for Ayawaso North Constituency, Alhaji Baba (National Coordinator), Nathaniel Salifu Akyeampong (Vice Chairman), Alhaji Moro Saddique (Special Advisor), Larry Kassim (General Secretary), Mahama Abdul Karim (Deputy National Coordinator), popular Actor Papa Nii as the communications Director and many others.
