Elite Ladies Club, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) with headquarters in the United States of America on Wednesday donated hospital equipment and hand-washing items valued at about $4, 000 dollars to Nwamase Health Center in the Kwadaso Municipality.
The gesture by the NGO forms part of its objectives to respond to pressing needs of underprivileged persons and distressed institutions in Ghana.
Items presented to the medical center consisted of beds, surgery mattresses, bed-sheets, toiletries, disinfectants, baby foods, feeding bottles, baby wipes and hand sanitizers.
Presenting the items on behalf of the group, Gifty Sarpomaa, representative of the Ghana Chapter tasked the hospital staff to use the items to cater for the needs at the health facility.
She noted that some of the items had been carefully bought to enable the facility deal with the COVID 19 outbreak in the country.
‘’We the members of Elite Ladies Club present these items to you to enable you deal with the challenges you may be facing here as well as the fight against COVID 19 which has now become a global issue’’, Madam Sarpomaa noted.
VISION:
Speaking to the media after the donation exercise, Madam Sarpomaa said the group President, Patricia Kumah affectionately called Lady Smart believes in helping underprivileged people and institutions.
The group, she revealed has since its formation decided to support the needy in Ghana and elsewhere.
With membership over 200 in the US and Ghana, Madam Sarpomaa said the NGO plans in reaching out with many donations and support projects for the needy in Ghana, particularly those in the Ashanti Region.
She noted that the Group’s President as well as executives including Jemima Hagan, Nana Ama, Bernice Queen ‘B’ upon seeing an appeal by Nwamase Health Center on social media decided to help out with this donation, adding more of such support for government institutions as well as other individual outfits would soon follow.
APPRECIATION:
Madam Juliana Akomeah Opoku, Principal Physician In Charge of Nwamase Health Center commended the NGO for the gesture.
She noted that the donation was timely and crucial since they have had to deal with large numbers of the public who visit the facility to access care.
The hand washing items, the Principal Physician intimated was also needed at the facility.
She however appealed to other private and corporate organizations to support the center with an electric generator to aid the outfit in its work since they have had to rely on rechargeable lamps to cater for patients when there is light out in the community.
‘’We are grateful to Elite Ladies Club-USA for their generous gesture and we appeal to other philanthropists as well as corporate organizations to aid us with a generator as well as maternity beds so that we can respond to emergencies at this facility’’, Madam Opoku appealed.
