The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Haroun Moomen, has charged corporate organizations in the country to emulate the example of mobile giant, MTN-Ghana by investing in the communities they operate their businesses.
According to him, it was through that way customers and the society at large would reap the benefits of associating with their brands or companies.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper during a presentation ceremony where MTN had donated assorted foodstuffs, drinks, mineral water, a ram and an amount of 6,500cedis at the Kumasi Central Mosque, Sheikh Moomen commended MTN for consistently showing kindness to the needy and the poor in the society.
The Chief Imam prayed for MTN for its unceasing effort in remembering the Muslim Community before and after the Holy Ramadan and other Muslim festivities.
He disclosed the company has always provided for the National Chief Imam as well as the regional Chief Imams across the country during the Eid, a celebration used to climax the prayer and fasting month.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Recalling, Sheikh Moomen said MTN had from their early days where they operated with the name Spacefon in 1996 to Spacefon-Areeba and then to Areeba shown the way of giving back to the society through its social responsibility outreach programs.
The Chief Imam lauded the company for continually investing in education and health related activities across the country.
These interventions, he noticed had helped to lessen the burden on government since many schools and hospitals have been constructed through the kind courtesy of the MTN-Foundation.

In a chat with the paper later after the presentation, the General Manager of MTN-Northern Business District, Mr James Bukari Basintale underscored the importance of Ramadan in the Muslim calendar and indicated MTN was committed to helping them celebrate the occasion.
According to him, the company believes in balance and therefore welcomes hard work which is backed by spiritual empowerment.
He noted the donation to the Muslim Community was intended to ginger them to break their fast very well and regain strength to continue their daily schedules afterwards.
4G TECHNOLOGY:
Mr Basintale, in a related issue said the recent 4G technology introduced by MTN was aimed at enhancing the work and time rate of all subscribers using its platform.
The speed, the General Manager noted is incredibly exciting making mobile activations and data services pleasurable.
He therefore urged MTN subscribers as well as others who are yet to hook on to the platform to do so as to be able to access the exciting programs and services the 4G technology presents.
