A private legal practitioner; Ace Ankomah is appalled that laws do not work in Ghana.
He says we live in a country where there are so many laws, it was sad that they are not enforced.
Ace Ankomah was discussing Manasseh Azure’s latest expose on Joy News analysis programme; Newsfile.
He revealed that what they Eye Group was doing in the Castle is a jailable offense. He says if indeed they had been previously evicted from the castle but found their way there again, they should not have been re-evicted but rather arrested and put before court.
Mr. Ankomah was also not happy about the use of the name “vigilante” as used for such. He believes the name is a glorification of their criminal activities.
He urges caution because he fears they are evolving from their original form.
Joy News aired a documentary this week which revealed how a pro-New Patriotic Party militia group called De-Eye Group is being trained as the Osu Castle.
The undercover work carried out by Manasseh Azure Awuni, disclosed how a former bodyguard of the president led the training of the militia group, De-Eye, on the grounds of public property.
Operating for the past two years, Manasseh found that the group had already provided security for a number of government functions of which the president had taken part in.
A leader of the group, Nana Wireko Addo in the undercover work, after one of such functions, conveyed President Akufo-Addo’s warm impressions of the group when they provided security for an event at the International Conference Centre in 2018.
Ace Ankomah who was commenting on the documentary also wondered why it had to take joint military and national security force to evict them.
