The Techiman Circuit Court has convicted a 25 year-old businessman, Frank Adu Boahene on his own plea of guilt to 29 years of imprisonment with hard labor.
The Prosecuting Officer, ASP Edmund Badu Agyeman told the court which was presided over by His Honor Daniel Kwaku Obeng that, the accused who touted himself as a businessman is a native of Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region but resides in Accra.
The Prosecution further disclosed that, the accused had used dubious means to exploit 120,000GHC from eleven natives of Nkoranza under the pretext of aiding them to get the requisite documents to travel overseas for better standard of living.
ASP Edmund Badu Agyeman added that, after the successful operation by the accused, he fled to Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region to hide himself.
The complainants lodged their case with the Nkoranza Police and after thorough investigation by the police; the accused was arrested at his hideout.
He was arraigned before court and pleaded guilty to five charges out of eleven.
The court convicted the accused on the five charges he pleaded guilty and sentenced him to 29 years of imprisonment. Meanwhile the remaining charges which he pleaded not guilty have been adjourned to 14th, January this year.
