A twenty-eight year old unemployed is standing trial at the Obuasi Circuit Court for unlawful possession of military accoutrement.
Toku Boateng who claims to be a band man at Burma Camp was arrested by the Obuasi Police Command upon a tip-off.
On October 4 this year police had information that two military personnel were hiding at a guest house in Obuasi (name withheld) gearing up for robbery.
The District Police Commander, DSP Matthew Asante and some officers proceeded to the said guest house where the accused and one military man both dressed in military uniforms were arrested. Knives and handcuffs were retrieved from them.
The military officer was handed over to 4BN Millitary Police in Kumasi for further investigations.
Toku Boateng is expected to re-appear in court on September 17 2014 for two counts of falsely pretending to be a public officer contrary to Section 237 of the Criminal Offences Act 29/60 and lawful possession of military accoutrement contrary to Section. 4(1) of NLCD 177 of Act 105 (1967)
