About ten shops and eight vehicles were destroyed by fire on Monday dawn at Suame Magazine, an industrial hub in the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region.
The fire which started around 12am reportedly razed properties worth thousands of cedis.
Speaking to Citi News, a mechanic who only gave his name as Korsah said the fire destroyed a number of the properties because the fire service men arrived at the scene late.
“Because we don’t have a fire service station at the Magazine, it was difficult reaching them. Though we finally succeeded in calling them, it took them about an hour to come here. So when they came around 1am, all the eight cars and ten shops had been destroyed.
He attributed the cause of the fire to the ongoing nationwide load shedding exercise.
