Ghana News–The much awaited Foklex Media Awards, a prestigious ceremony where distinguished media personalities are honored for their talent came off last Saturday in Kumasi at the plush Golden Tulip Kumasi City.
Sweeping this year’s awards in the Ashanti Region were personalities from Hello Fm, Angel Fm and Abusua Fm, three popular stations in the capital of the ancient Kingdom.
Sampson K. Nyamekye, a veteran radio personality and current General Manager of Hello Fm won both the reporter of the year and radio personality of the year while Boneshayka, a worker at Hello Fm was crowned Drive-Time presenter of the year.
Leading the pack for the awards to Angel Fm was Kwame Tanko, who won the Morning Show Host of the year while Michael Darko popularly known as ‘Summer’ won the accolade as sports show host of the year with Fancy Di Maria and Alexis Godson winning the Foreign sports presenter and gospel presenter of the year accolades respectively.
‘Debater’ and Raphael Sarkodie of Abusua Fm fame were awarded for being best local sports commentator and best sports analyst of the year respectively.
OTHERS:
Nana Amakye of Classic Fm in the Brong Ahafo Region category of awards swept home the accolade for best morning show host of the year while Nana Akosua Ansah of Dinpa Fm took home the crown for newscaster of the year.
In the Central Region category, Solomon Addae Mununkum of Nkwa Fm was honored as the morning show host of the year with Rexford Sackey of Osagyefo FM winning the accolade as radio personality of the year.
In the Eastern Region awards category, Kwaku Dawuro of Kingdom Fm was crowned morning show host of the year with Abena Pokua of Aggo fm and Kwaku Aboagye Apenteng winning the title as female and male newscasters of the year.
Dr Ken of Bishara Radio in the Northern Region category won the best morning host of the year contest while Yaro Ismail of Mighty Fm and Frank Kofi Adaazi winning the accolade as radio personality and sports show host of the year respectively.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the awards ceremony, Frank Akwasi Owusu, Chief Executive Officer for Foklex Media Productions indicated the resolve of the team to extend the awards to cover categories for the ten regions of Ghana.
He expressed the satisfaction at the turn of events at the Seventh (7TH) Awards ceremony which captured seven regions of the country. He rallied the corporate world to come on board and sponsor the event which is aimed at rewarding hardworking professionals in the media industry.
Mr Owusu disclosed that the 8th awards ceremony will be staged in Accra to reflect its national status and hopes to have it at the National Theatre.
Mr Atta Dabone Snr, Deputy Board Chair of Foklex Media Productions assured participants at the event of the continued support of the Board towards the awards.
He on behalf of the Board expressed his commitment to ensuring the project of recognizing media personalities across the country becomes part of us as a people.
