Former NDC MP lauds planting for food and jobs policy

The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ejura-Sekyeredumasi, Mr Mohammed Issifu Pangabu has lauded the planting for food and jobs policy of the government.

According to him, the policy had the potential of radically turning around the yields of food growers in the country.

He therefore called on the public especially farmers across the country to support the idea so as to ensure its success.

Speaking to newsmen in Ejura, a farming community in the Ashanti Region, Mr Pangabu urged the public not to see the policy as one belonging to the NPP but a national program aimed at ensuring better crop yield and the creation of employment for the mass of the people.

SUPPORT:
Pledging his support to the policy, Mr Pangabu said the benefits of the program will be coming in leaps and bounds.

This, he noted is due to the seriousness the Ministry of Agriculture has attached to the implementation of the policy.

Additionally, the former MP disclosed the massive investments in the policy will surely yield results since every item needed to push the program has been brought on board.

He, therefore, called on farmers in the country to help push the policy by taking advantage of the improved seedlings the ministry is providing to cultivate on a larger scale.

BENEFICIARIES:
Speaking to this reporter during the field tour by officials of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, three beneficiaries, Yaw Paul, Abdellah Issah and Rose Achiaw expressed delight in the planting for food policy.

They confirmed the quality of the seeds provided to farmers in the Ejura community by the Ministry.

According to them, they expect a bumper harvest this year due to the better extension services they have had from the Agric Ministry.

The duo commended the efforts of the Ministry and urged that they intensify efforts to fight the fall army worms that recently attacked their crops so as to ensure maximum results in their investments.
