Frustrated unemployed nurses are set for a demonstration at the flagstaff house Monday 11th January, 2016 over “the failure of the government to release financial clearance for them”.
A press statement issued by the group and signed by the group’s Spokesperson;Govena Tamim said “regular follow- ups by concerned enrolled /community health nurses to get the financial clearance from the appropriate quarters has proved fruitless.”
The group accuses the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Deputy Finance Minister and Deputy Minister of Health of failing to keep their promise made to them on the 19th October, 2015 when a group of unemployed nurses went to get answers regarding their unemployment status from the President.
The enrolled and community Health nurses numbering over three thousand are feeling discriminated against especially when their compatriots; registered General nurses, Psychiatric nurses and midwives have already been cleared by the finance ministry to be posted.
