The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the regulator of the aviation industry in Ghana, says it has requested an occurrence report from Starbow Airline and Air Traffic Control.
This would enable it to initiate mandatory investigations into the incident involving the airline, as stipulated in the GCAA Regulations.
“GCAA would like to assure the General Public that, as the regulator of Ghana’s air transport industry, it does not compromise on it’s unbridled safety standards and will continue to ensure Safety and Security within the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR),” a statement said.
At about 1750 hours on Tuesday, 28th October, 2014, a Starbow flight 124 with registration number 9GXBD with 73 passengers, including crew member’s en-route from Accra to Takoradi after take-off and at an altitude of about 6000 feet, experienced hydraulic warning signals and immediately followed the emergency procedure for landing back at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
“The aircraft on landing burst two tires in the process. All the passengers were evacuated safely except for two passengers who sustained minor injuries”.
