GDCL CEO Encourages Youth To Learn Digital Skills To Become More Functional.
Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, CEO for the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) has admonished the youth of Ghana to take advantage of the ongoing digital training programme by GDCL could to learn and acquire digital skills.
This, he noted would help them to become employable anywhere in the world.
Addressing the youth at three training centres in Ashanti on Wednesday such as Sawaba in Asawase, Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School at Old Tafo and Afia Kobi Ampem Library in the Manhyia South constituencies, Hon Agyemang said only those who have digital skills set can productively function in the rapidly changing world.
“The Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government is determined to ensure that all the youth in Ghana become functional with the right kind of digital skills and this is why it has tailored these training programmes through the partnership between GDCL and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to make it possible for the youth to acquire basic, intermediary and advanced knowledge in ICT”, the GDCL CEO stated.
Training Programme:
The CEO disclosed that the training programme had been planned for the youth across Ghana.
He said the training for Ashanti was in its second week and would be finished by the weekend.
For now, he disclosed those in the Northern regions, Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions had benefited from the training.
“From Ashanti Region we will visit the Eastern Region and train persons recruited through our partnership with the YEA. Our target is to train three thousand youth across Ghana 🇬🇭 in the three levels of digital skills from the basic, intermediary and advanced courses”, Hon Agyemang stated.
Beneficiaries:
Andrews Amofa, a Senior High School student said it had been a interesting experience learning at the Afia Kobim Ampem Center.
“I only had little knowledge in ICT and this training has really exposed me to many things that i didnt know and i am determined to use this to build myself so that after school i can do something on my own while waiting for my WASSCE results”, Master Amofa noted.
Vanessa Kufuor, a fashion designer said the training had made her aware of many avenues she could use to market her stuff and make money.
“I have learnt that i can upload my fashion designs and advertise them on the internet while having my number attached so that i could get people across the world to patronise my services and make me impactful”, Miss Kufuor stated.
