GHANA SAFE FOR YOUR ACTIVITIES—DEPUTY COMMUNICATION MINISTER ASSURES INNOVATORS, ENTREPRENEURS

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digitalization (MoCD), Ama Pomaa Boateng has assured budding entrepreneurs and innovators of an enabling environment to aid their work and enhance the provision of solutions across industries.
She noted that the MoCD will build on the evolving nature of technologies and constantly build on that progress to create the needed enhancing environment.
Hon. Pomaa Boateng who was speaking at the Ghana Digital Innovation Week in Accra said there was the need for a Dedicated Digital Innovation fund, Franchise exhibition opportunities for the innovations and a percentage of government business allocated to homegrown digital innovation.
For businesses, she stressed, opportunities exist to invest in the building of connectivity infrastructure, promoting digital firms and supporting digitalization of the wider economy.

The Digital Innovations Week which is an initiative of the current government brought together persons from various levels of life across the country, including Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawunia, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Hon Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, and some Ambassador of foreign countries.
Hon Ama Pomaa Boateng who is also the Member of Parliament for Juaben constituency in the Ashanti region said the MoCD was convinced that the Ghana Digital Innovation Week’s celebrations and activities will help ignite innovative ways of pursuing Ghana’s digital development agenda.
Earlier, she revealed that some 60,000 High School Girls in Ashanti, Eastern and Central regions were trained on Cyber Security in October 2021.
The motive, according to her was not only for the Girls to stay Safe Online, but also to create a Cybersecurity Innovation Network.
“We are nurturing these High School students to identify and create Innovative Solutions by becoming Early-Stage Cyber Security Entrepreneurs.
CYBER SECURITY:
Cyber Security is required to facilitate Ghana’s Economic growth, protect the Critical Infrastructures and also maintain Political Stability and it is important we create Digital Innovations in that Space.
“With the appropriate funds and Fund, these High School Students can be coached to have compelling digital product and service solutions to keep individuals and businesses safe online,” she said.
The Deputy Minister announced that MoCD is creating regional innovation hubs and seeks partnerships.
“I would like to mention one of such examples is the partnership with GIZ Digital Transformation Centres to expand our Community Information Centers in five regions. We also have partnerships at the Pan African level with the SMART Africa Alliance. We are delighted to welcome our partners Smart Africa from Rwanda to Ghana Digital Innovation Week,” she emphasised.
