A lecturer at the Kumasi Polytechnic says the fact that Ghana has never had a science-based President has cost the nation a lot in development.
Kusi Boafo who is also a Chartered Accountant lamented the nation’s drift towards liberal arts to the detriment of science. He believes a science oriented leader for the country will pay attention to the development of scientific innovations, Agriculture and industrialization which will contribute significantly to boosting the country’s economy.
He says the country’s economy is just a reflection of the orientation of leadership over the years.
“Ghanaians are heavy weights in law, sociology and even English language. We are better developed in those areas than many other developed countries. But we ridicule science and technical based knowledge”, he lamented and says the country has lost focus.
“We sent our best brains to areas that cannot even prevent food rotting when in abundance”.
The lecturer who was speaking on the Ultimate Morning Show urged the country’s leaders to adopt science as a philosophy like other countries are doing.
