The Ghana Health Service (GHS), has disclosed that 36 cases of dengue fever have been confirmed in the Eastern and Central Regions.
According to a statement by the GHS, samples were taken to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), where the cases were confirmed.
The disease initially identified in the Eastern Region has now spread to the Central Region.
The Ghana Health Service in its statement noted that a national team including epidemiologists and entomologists have joined the regional team to conduct a thorough examination of the outbreak.
To corroborate the suspicions, further samples from suspected cases have been sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
To mitigate the spread, the Ghana Health Service noted that it is engaging in an orientation for all healthcare workers and other stakeholders to better manage the outbreak.
Additionally, the public has been urged to engage in activities that will stop the breeding of mosquitoes.

Sudden onset of high-grade fever
Severe headache (mostly in the forehead)
Body aches- muscle, bone and joint pains
Nausea and/or vomiting
Rash
