Ghana is excited to be in the list of countries to take part in the upcoming Wiki Loves Africa 2014 which has cuisine as the theme for this year’s event.
Each year, the theme of the contest includes visually rich, universal and cultural specific topics, notable persons, natural history, festivals, urbanity, rites of passage among others.
Wiki Loves Africa is an annual contest that provides the platform for people across Africa to contribute media which in the forms of video, audio and photographs about their environment on Wikimedia commons and other project websites of the Wikimedia foundation.
The best media shall be selected and awarded prizes by an international jury at the close of the contest which will last from October 1-30, 2014. This will be Ghana’s first time of participation in the upcoming Wiki loves Africa project and we are taking part for the reasons below:
Reasons for Ghana Participating:
- To share more on Ghanaian cuisine with the world and help people learn about the culinary aspects of its culture.

To improve articles relating to Ghanaian Cuisine on Wikipedia and other projects websites of the Wikimedia foundation with images, videos and audios shared by local participants during the contest.

To attract and raise interests in others to hear about the world of wikipedia and the global encyclopedia works and the role wikimedia Ghana plays in making that a reality too.
