The Ghana Medical Association has appealed to the Review Task Force and Parliament to freeze any attempts at passing the Health Bill 2015 into law.
Speaking at a press conference, President of the association Dr. Kwabena Opoku Adusei flanked by his General Secretary and other Executives, noted that the Bill at its current state is compounded with a lot of problems.
“As it exists currently the Health Bill 2015 is fraught with problems such as distortions, duplications of roles”.
The Health Bill 2015 when passed into law would deepen decentralization and devolution of the health sector by putting the health sector completely under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The GMA believes implementing the bill will create further chaos in the health sector and are therefore for a round table discussion and consultations to avert the looming difficulties that the bill may further cause when passed.
“The GMA takes this opportunity to appeal to the Review Task Force and Parliament to suspend any attempts at passing the Bill into law, for further broad stakeholder consultations to perfect the bill”.
