Nana Anaafi Ababio ll Krontihene of Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional area has accused Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies of stripping the country off her communal spirit. He said the country lost her communal spirit when the MMDAs stripped traditional leaders off their powers.
He represented the Omanhene of Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional area Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyabi ll at the launch of the Church of Pentecost’s Church’s Environmental Care Campaign held in Bibiani.
He pleaded with the local government authorities to give give back the powers wielded by Nananom in the past to bolster the communal spirit of the people and engender development.
The Coordinating Director for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipal Assembly, Mr Abdul Rahman also called for attitudinal change towards protecting the environment.
He decried filth that is polluting the area and warned that Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality will soon prosecute people who throw rubbish around.
The Sefwi Bekwai Area Head of the church of Pentecost APS Vincent Anane Denteh said the church will do all it can to protect the environment.
He said cleanliness is important and assured that the church will ensure that the campaign for a clean environment stretches nationwide alongside the gospel. He also assured that the church’s commitment to environmental sanitation will not be a nine day wonder but will be intensified until the goals of the campaign are achieved.
