Gov’t Launches Community Mining For Bosome Freho…Calls For Support From Chiefs and People.
The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and MP for Tarkwa Nsuem, Hon Mireku Duker on Wednesday together with officials of the Minerals Commission, the MP for Bosome Freho as well as the Chiefs of the Area broke the ground for the launch of government’s Community Mining Module.
Addressing the gathering before the official launch, Hon Duker said the community mining module presents beneficiary communities to engage in responsible mining where water bodies and the forests are preserved.
He noted that apart from the minerals that would be mined to develop the communities in Bosome Freho, the youth would get employment opportunities.
“Today I am glad that due to the efforts of government and the diligence of your Member of Parliament including the Chiefs of this area we are launching this community mining module and i believe that the dividends that would acrue from this responsible way of mining will go a long way to cause the development of this district and communities under same”, the Deputy Minister stated.

Hon Akwasi Darko Boateng, MP for the area thanked the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government for agreeing to do this community for the people of Bosome Freho.
The MP also thanked the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources for including the Dannso and other communities in Bosome Freho as beneficiaries of the Community Mining module.
Hon Boateng however asked the Chiefs and the people to support initiatives aimed at providing jobs for the people and cause the development of the communities in Bosome Freho.
“I am thankful to God that the many months if not years that i have pestered government and the Ministry to grant us opportunity to do community mining has finally come to fruition and i plead that rather than fighting against such initiatives the Chiefs and People of Bosome Freho would rally behind the initiative so that we can collectively reap from its benefits”, the MP urged.
District Chief Executive:
The District Chief Executive of Bosome Freho, Hon Kofi Adu Amoateng pledged the Assembly’s commitment to overseeing to the implementation of the community mining to a successful end.
He stated that the Assembly would provide every support that would be needed to the Minerals Commission and all stakeholders who would be involved in the project.
Representative of Kokofu Manhene:
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Representative of the Kokofu Manhene, Nana Kumi Acheampong, Dabenhene of Kokofu noted that his delight to see the project implementation.
He noted that community mining was aiding the development of many beneficiary communities across Ghana.
Bosome Freho, he noted having been an area rich in minerals was therefore a good choice to benefit from same.
“The Kokofumanhene gives his support to this forward looking project and asks that his subjects as well as other stakeholders also show same support to tbe project so that together we can reap the benefits of this community mining”, the Chief appealed.
