Groups Pledge Support For Prof Rita Dickson…Meanwhile UTAG Plans Silent Protests Against Court Action.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) and the Lady Pharmacists Association of Ghana 🇬🇭 (LAPAG) have in unison pledged their support for Professor Rita Akosua Dickson to continue her extended mandate as the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

They have also urged her to dutifully continue her legally and legitimately extended mandate and bring development to the University.

Pharmacist Dr Samuel Kow Donkoh, Leader of PSGH writing on behalf of the two groups commended the first lady VC for carrying out huge infrastructural projects on campus.

The groups also atttested to the forward looking institutional advancement programs introduced by the Vice-Chancellor at KNUST.

The groups said the further two years extension the VC has gotten, would, undoubtedly mean the continuation of far reaching academic reforms to make KNUST the choicest University in the World 🌎.

Pledge:
The statement pledged the groups unconditional support to the VC as she carries on with the further two years.

They also commended the Governing Council for endorsing the extension of the VC’s mandate for an additional two years.

Both groups praised the Council for subsequently following up with the approval by presenting the appointment letter to the Lady Professor.

The groups revealed that Vice-Chancellor was a member of their outfit.

Simmering Tensions:
Meanwhile, information trickling to this portal indicates that the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG)-KNUST Branch is unhappy with the legal suit filed against the extension of the mandate of its Vice Chancellor.

The group, our source noted is worried that a person with a dubious character was being supported by some unseen hands to carry out something that had been legally done by Governing Council of the University.

The source said, members of the Association are planning a silent sit down strike if the case before the court goes against their wishes.

The Association plans to make the University ungovernable if the injunction application before the court is granted.

Strategy:
The Association, the source said is planning to use all legal means to display its opprobrium against the suit before the court.

The Members are said to be aware that some disgruntled members of the KNUST Governing Council are behind the writ before the court.

However, the Association not wanting to be seen to be walking in contempt of court would do no serious academic work on campus when they report for duty.

This, the source said will bring academic studies aground and force the student body to disperse and take actions that would make authorities sit up.

More revelations will be unleashed in subsequent editions.
