The Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo has assured the populace that the current public sector reforms being put together by government will accelerate the rate of growth of the Ghanaian economy.
This, he stressed is because government is determined to consult widely and choose from best options available from the public and as well as other important stakeholders of the economy.
Speaking during the opening of the Northern Sector Consultative forum on the National Public Sector Reform Strategy (2018-2023) in Kumasi, the Senior Minister noted the importance of collating views from players in the economic sector.
According to him, to get the best is to allow those involved in business to discuss issues affecting the platforms and systems by which they work.
GOVERNMENT:
Mr Maafo indicated the readiness of the NPP government to ensure they create the platforms that will induce growth in the economy.
Government, he noted should not be in the forefront of competing for businesses but rather creating the conditions by which the private sector will induce growth in the economy.
He stated that, ‘it is not the business of government to compete with the private sector for businesses but it is to help the private sector lead the way in job creation’, the Senior Minister posited.
According to him, great economies in the world were built by the private sector and urged government to infuse the necessary economic reforms to enhance the rate at which the private sector accesses funds to expand their businesses.
PUBLIC SECTOR REFORMS CEO:
Speaking to the Ghana Observer Newspaper later at the forum, Thomas Kusi Boafo, Chief Executive Officer at the Public Sector Reforms Secretariat reiterated the call to allow the private sector to lead growth efforts of the country.
The government, he mentioned should concern itself with the creation of the right conditions for the participation of private sector players.
According to him, government thrives in the industry of its private sector since they also give employment to a large chunk of the people.
This National Reforms Strategy project, Mr Boafo revealed is thus fashioned to collate and inculcate best methods, measures and ideas to enabling the government come up with a robust system to enhance the pace and rate of doing business in the country.
