The Member of Parliament for Manhyia-North, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah has urged polling station executives in the constituency to use the offices they hold to work for the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
He has also tasked them to work to ensure the NPP becomes more visible and vibrant in all the communities within the constituency.
Addressing delegates at the recently held delegates conference at Moshie Zongo, a suburb in the Kumasi Metropolis, Hon Amankwah said the best way of utilizing one’s position was to ensure he or she works to justify the confidence reposed in him or her by the party faithful.
According to him, Manhyia North delegates by God’s design have a secure tenure of office for the next two years since the elected constituency executives who could call for fresh elections as to whether to maintain or otherwise have only been in office for a few months due to the protracted misunderstanding that rocked the area in 2016.
STEWARDSHIP:
Giving account of what the Party and his office have been involved in, Hon Amankwah mentioned the training of polling agents, party workers as well as special monitors for last year’s general election as a major factor to the electoral success of the party in the 2016 general elections.
The intensive training the constituency embarked on, he noted ensured that the party recorded massive success at the polls despite the activities of others who wanted the party to perform abysmally in Manhyia-North.
He disclosed the involvement of the constituency chairman, Mr Kwaku Oppong Kyekyeku in the disbursement of all party funds allocated to the constituency by National officers and pleaded that party executives work together at all times.
Hon. Amakwah took the opportunity to commend past officers of the party including Felix Ibrahim and Emmanuel Aboagye, former constituency secretary and treasurer respectively for ensuring the constituency conducted its activities smoothly despite the bumper ride it suffered due to legal battles it faced before the conduct of fresh elections from polling station to constituency level in 2016.
UNITY:
Stressing the need for unity in the constituency despite being denied of funds totaling 30,000 Ghana cedis by constituency executives prior to the 2016 polls, the MP rallied delegates to forgive each other for any wrong they might suffered or committed against themselves.
Party unity, the MP noted was an important step for all of them to forge ahead as one big family, adding it was only in unity that the party will become attractive to floating voters and the undecided.
”We should forgive one another because as a large party as this we should expect that we will sometimes offend ourselves”, Hon Amankwah noted.
He, however, rallied members to be guided by the principle the party holds that the views of the majority is what rules.
”We should be guided by the principle of majority rule which our party jealously cherishes and be united as a people who are bonded by a clear sense of direction and destiny”, the youthful legislator posited amidst cheers.
