Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Ahafo Ano North constituency; Akwasi Adusei made mincemeat of the Ashanti regional minister to retain the constituency’s parliamentary candidature.
Hon. Adusei, polled 3, 673 votes whiles Peter Anarfi Mensah, the current Ashanti Regional minister, polled 3,020 votes.
Voting was rescheduled in the constituency due to inadequate electoral materials.
The Ahafo Ano North contest was one of those that grabbed the most attention within the Ashanti region with many people expressing varying emotions and opinions regarding the candidates.
Mr Anarfi Mensah, is said to have enjoyed the support of some big guns of the party and some traditional rulers in the area.
The elections were generally calm.
