The President of the University Hall ( Katanga ) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Mr. Albert Fiah, has debunked rumours that, he is corrupt.
Members of the University hall have raised concerns that their president sold some shirts which were meant for the “Katangees” who participated in the late chairman of KNUST, Dr. Ing. P.V. Obeng’s funeral.
In an interview on Sunday evening on leadership corner; a show on campus based focus fm, the president said profoundly that, he shared the shirts that were to be given for free but sold those produced by the Senior Common Room (SCR) of the hall.
He said “Rumours are circultating that, I sold the P.V. Obeng shirt; I am putting on record, hall master and bursar are listening to me, the whole world will bear me witness; I sold only the shirts produced by the SCR because those were meant for the Alumni but shared the free once among the students present”.
He further debunked allegations that he is inactive in the hall’s activities. Members of the University hall have said that the vice president, Mr. Kyei’s presence is always felt more than the president.
Reacting to this allegation, he said that, the university hall’s leadership has roles assigned to each of the executives and the vice president is executing his job well if he is seen more.
He said “In Katanga hall, roles are assigned to each of the executives. The Vice president is directly in charge of welfare so he is consulted first when it comes to matters of welfare and I do most of the administrative work. So if he is seen often, it means he is executing his job well”.
He attributed these allegations and rumours to poor communication between him and the members of the hall.
