I will abdicate my seat as MP if Manso roads remain untarred- MP
The Member of Parliament for Manso Adubia constituency in the Ashanti region, Mr. Yaw Frimpong Addo has vowed to vacate his post as MP of the area if Mim Junction to Agoroyesum road is not completed within the next two years.
He made this categorical statement on Oyerepa Breakfast on 9th February 2021.
This follows an appeal by the Queen-mother of Agoroyesum Nana Yaa Bimpong, that, Agoroyesum residents are unhappy with the bad nature of roads in the area and its health consequences.
The constituency cannot boast of even 10 kilometers of tarred roads although the area is blessed with a lot of natural resources. The area is classified as one of the most deprived places in the country despite the availability of a lot of natural resources.
The MP has vowed to sacrifice his political career should the road network remain the same under his watch.
“I will not present myself to the constituents if the government and my party fails to give the constituency a facelift. It will be difficult for me to do, since, I may fail in that quest” he said.
The government of Ghana has so far awarded 7 road projects in the constituency.
Meanwhile, mining activities have taken over the place, yet, the area is still underdeveloped.
The MP faced very stiff competition in the just ended parliamentary elections. The margin was very narrow between he and his main contender. The incumbent MP garnered 17,652 while, his contender had 17, 149 votes respectively.
