Ghana news–The newly elected and first presiding member of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Mr Elliot Fosu Barnor says nothing but the development of Asokwa is his primary concern.
According to him, Asokwa has for long lagged behind in terms of infrastructural development, especially good roads, adding the time has come to reverse the worrying trend.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after being sworn in at the Assembly, Mr Barnor mentioned his commitment to seeking to have massive development projects in the elite community.
Together with the Member of Parliament (MP) and the various assemblymen in the area, the PM indicated his resolve to pursue a vigorous development agenda for the peaceful community.
‘’I stand here elated but my primary focus and concern is to see Asokwa develop to a level that will be second to none in the country’’, Mr Barnor intimated.
VISION:
Outlining his vision, Mr Barnor said issues about sanitation and security in the Asokwa community will be tackled rigorously.
Deplorable roads and routes in the community, the youthful PM noted will be attended to so as to ensure the area becomes accessible.
The PM said his outfit will ensure local and multi-national companies in the community are engaged to partner the Assembly to develop the Asokwa Municipality.
Mr Barnor noted his determination to seek partnership with other sister countries whose local assembly system is strong so as to exchange ideas and programs for the benefit of its people.
‘’As a newly created Municipality we will be committed to cutting our teeth early as we strive to strike partnerships with both local and foreign groups so as to ensure our development process is hastened for a better future for our youth and others’’, Mr Barnor stated.
COMMITMENT:
With the Municipality yet to get a Chief Executive, the PM noted plans to partner with anyone who is appointed to head the Assembly to ensure the community is developed at a faster pace.
The President, Mr Barnor noted knows the challenges that are bound to confront a newly created Assembly and would ensure the best of the candidates vying for the position is selected to plot the area’s development.
The assemblymen in the Municipality, the PM noted are seeking development for their various electoral areas, adding they are only looking forward to having a similar minded person to work with as MCE.
‘’I have serious minded assembly men in the Asokwa municipal assembly and I have no doubt that they will cooperate with a focused and development oriented MCE to help us pursue our agenda of transformational development’’, Mr Barnor posited.
