The former Member of Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang says his decision to contest in the upcoming primaries of the NPP in the area is borne out of a desire to help develop the famous constituency in Ashanti.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper at the weekend, Hon Agyemang said nothing but the development of the constituency was his priority.
According to him, the Asante Akyem North community lacks many basic infrastructure to make it a modern society.
Modern school infrastructure, asphaltic roads as well as standard clinics in some of the communities in the constituency is also lacking, Hon Baah Agyemang disclosed.
“My decision to wrestle for the seat I held for the NPP in 2012 to 2016 is borne out of nothing but a desire to lobby for total development for my people. This is solely what is pushing me to seek the mandate of the delegates of the NPP”, the famous former MP noted.
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT:
The former MP who now heads the National Sports Authority (NSA) as Board Chairman says the youth in the ancient community needed jobs.
Many of the youth, the former MP said do menial jobs to sustain themselves.
This, he noted was a worrying issue and promised to use his good offices to lobby for employment for the mass youth in the community.
Even though many of the young people have gotten places to work as well as scholarships to further their trades and education through him, Hon Agyemang feels there is more to be done.
“I am determined to use my good lobbying skills to get more spaces for the youth in Asante Akyem North to get jobs just as I have been doing and this is my desire”, the NSA board chairman passionately stressed.
SPORTS DEVELOPMENT:
With the upcoming Asante Akyem Marathon in the Agogo community on the 13th of April, the former MP said some of these inititiaves by his outfit are aimed at getting talents out of the constituency.
He revealed that the 21 kilometre marathon has over the years been useful to the youth of Asante Akyem North as well as many others who travel to participate.
Even though the marathon is held within the Agogo township, the NSA boss intimated that the activity has now become a household one which is enabling many to use as platform to launch international careers out of same.
This year’s event as well as many other sporting initiatives, Hon Agyemang stressed would be used to unearth, nurture and polish potentials in the youth of the constituency as well as others who will travel from far and near to participate.
