Ghana Political News-Madam Yaa Akyiaa, a member of the Asante-Akyem North branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has gotten relief from the Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA) to treat wounds she suffered from an attack by one Akili Bobo, a known thug in the Agogo community.
The relief came during a visit by Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang to the community last weekend to participate in a thanksgiving service.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after receiving an unspecified amount to treat her injury, Madam Akyiaa thanked the NSA board chairman for his thoughtfulness.
She said but for the gesture of the former MP, it would have been difficult for her to continue to buy the medicines prescribed for her to treat the wounds she suffered in the stone attack.
‘’I am very thankful to Hon Baah Agyemang who despite not being in the community when I was attacked has found it necessary to visit and pay for my treatment as well as my upkeep’’, Madam Yaa Akyiaa tearfully noted.
APPEAL:
Madam Akyiaa appealed to the Police to intensify efforts in arresting Akili Bobo, alleged culprit.
The arrest of Akili Bobo, she noted will help the community deal with crime since many of such thugs abound and occasionally inflict pain on innocent people.
Madam Akyiaa decried the failure of the Police to arrest her attacker almost two weeks after the near fatal injury.
She called on the NPP constituency executives in the community to be proactive in responding to party people who get injured so as to engender commitment from party members.
‘’It is sad that my own party executives did not act nor show a proactive action when I got injured and I wish they learn from Hon Baah Agyemang to support members who get into trouble’’, Madam Akyiaa advised.
NSA BOARD CHAIR:
Speaking to this reporter, Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang said he decided to help out when he was made aware of the attack on the lady, Yaa Akyiaa.
Having been a former MP, he noted it is always prudent to help people of Asante-Akyem North anyway he can.
Madam Yaa Akyiaa, the NSA board chair noted has been a loyal member of the NPP and therefore deserved to be supported at this time.
Hon Baah Agyemang urged the Police to act smart anytime an indigene is attacked so as to make the public repose trust in them.
‘’I decided to help my sister who has been attacked and I believe by this way we can prove to our party members and the people of Agogo that we care but I urge the Police to also arrest the alleged culprit and deal with him according to law’’, Hon Agyemang posited.
