KNUST Debate team relaxing ahead of the finals

Ghana News- Debaters from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) beat their counterparts from the University of Cape Coast to emerge winners of the Kuapa Kokoo/MPA Inter-Tertiary Schools Debate Competition held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

The competition formed part of the Green Ghana Lecture Series.

The preliminary round of the competition which was held on the 30th April, 2018 at the British Council in Accra saw students, Farmers, Lecturers, Agribusiness players, staff of kuapa kokoo, staff of Millennium Promise Alliance, some session of the General public and the media converge at venue to support a great course.

8 Universities started the preliminary rounds but the number got trimmed to 4 universities at the finale.

The University of Cape Coast who were runners-up put up a spirited performance against the KNUST but lost out with a slim margin.

KNUST; Winners of the Debate took home a laptop computer each, Medals of participation, hampers from sponsors, a trophy for their school plus a cash prize of 3,000 Cedis. They will also have a 1 year internship with MPA and KKFU as well as Asanka Connectivity for their respective school libraries.

The Runners-up also took home an electronic tablet each, Medals of participation, hampers from sponsors as well as a cash prize of 1,500 cedis.

Other participants also received consolation prizes.

Country Director for Millennium Promise Alliance Chief Nat Nsarko who was excited with the success of the programme says the competition will be institutionalized as an annual event.
