Iranian President at Islamic University College Ghana (IUCG) pockets 150,000 USD Stanbic Bank Grant; Registrar cries foul

In 2021, the Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) applied for a grant of the cedi-equivalent of150,000 USD to take care of salary payments. Upon the instruction of the then President of the IUCG, Dr. Ali Arab Khorasani, the issue was kept away from the IUCG community. It was thus not reported to any of the organs of the University College.

Information available to us is that the Grant was received in full by the University College. However the President did not disclose it to their sponsoring institution in Iran and passed it off as payment from the University coffers. It is clear therefore that Dr. Khorasani pocketed the entire sum. Members of the University College who got wind of the financial support but did not have the full details began to spread rumours that the registrar had misappropriated the money for himself.

When the Regiatrar, Mr. Awudu Moro, requested for a letter from Dr. Khorasani that he could use as evidence that the University College received the full sum, this led to a misunderstanding between him and Dr. Khorasani resulting in his removal from office.

Mr. Awudu Moro has since resigned from the University College and is weighing his options.

Stay tuned for more update.
