Government says it has received some four hundred and eighty thousand dollars from Japan to help it audit government bungalows allocations across the country.
This comes in the wake of recent revelations about the misuse or improper allocation of government bungalows to public servants. The problem of lack of accommodation for government officials who are entitled goes up to the top where currently the President of the Republic and his Vice are not accommodated in their assigned official residencies per their office.
The most recent of controversies surrounding bungalows is the CHRAJ boss who had to lodge in a rented accommodation whilst awaiting renovation works on her official accommodation.
Meanwhile the Japanese grant is to help Government identify, allocate and maintain all government bungalows. Speaking in an interview with rawgist.com’s Norvan Acquah-Hayford , the Deputy Water Resources, Works and housing minister Sampson Ahi appealed to occupants of government bungalows to cooperate with officials of the ministry who will be undertaking the exercise.
“The essence of it is to take a stock of all government bungalows in the country, to know how many bungalows do we have which are in good state, which are in deplorable state and those that need maintenance and so forth.”
The Deputy Minister in charge of Water Resources, Works and housing called on the general public especially the occupants of such facilities to cooperate with the officials who will be undertaking the exercises.
