Jean Mensa is not related to Akufo-Addo-Kwaku Baako

Ghana Politics News-The Editor in chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul-Malik Kwaku Baako has rubbished claims that the nominated Chairperson of the Electoral Commission has blood relations to the President or his family.

According to Mr Baako, Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa is nowhere near the President or his wife in terms of relations.

Speaking on Joy News last Saturday, Mr Baako wondered why some misguided elements within the media and political circles were seeking to find something negative to say about the IEA former boss.

The nominee, the famous editor noted is qualified to hold the position she has been penciled for, adding she possesses the credentials to succeed.

‘’I want to make it clear and this is factual that Mrs Jean Mensa is not related to the President or his wife, Rebecca  and it is absurd for people to think and say so in the media or elsewhere’’, Mr Baako angrily posited.

OTHER CLAIMS:

Mr Baako also parried off claims that Jean Mensa lacked the temperament to handle the office she will be occupying when approved by Parliament.

According to Mr Baako, the former IEA boss has for about 20 years demonstrated competence in her field as lawyer and head of a think tank.

Having spearheaded reforms in the political party system in the country through the IEA, the respected editor believes Jean Mensa is overly qualified to handle the office she will be heading.

He described the allegations the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well as the Peoples National Congress (PNC) have been leveling on Jean Mensa as frivolous and empty.

‘’It is bad faith on the part of the NDC and other elements in other political parties to claim a person they have worked with for about a decade or more is unqualified to hold an office as EC chairperson’’, Mr Baako stated.

ADVICE:

Mr Baako has meanwhile advised the Finance Minister to allow the Education Ministry handle the teething challenges they have encountered in the implementation of the free senior high school policy.

According to the veteran editor, any attempt to seek to speak against the policy because of the real challenges will be considered as bad-mouthing the entire policy.

The policy, Mr Baako stressed is something the President believes in and is determined to tweak to fine tune its implementation.

He, therefore, urged the Finance Minister not to proffer his personal opinions in a political manner but rather do in-house discussion about it.

‘’It is good for the Finance Minister to have views about the free SHS policy but communication is key here since proffering such opinions may not be politically wise’’, Mr Baako strongly posited.
