The Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Daniel Kenu, is set to undergo a head scan at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Monday after suffering contusions when he was savagely beating up by the senior brother of Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, and some thugs last Friday.
Baffour Gyan, himself a former player of the Black Stars, led the assault which later landed the journalist at the Komfo Anokye Hospital for treatment.
He was furious that the journalist asked his brother Asamoah, to clear the air on the Castro missing saga over which a group of youth had demonstrated against the player during one of the training sessions at the Baba Yara Stadium ahead of the Ghana vrs Uganda AFCON 2015 qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Indeed, the police managed to arrest two of the demonstrators but cautioned and released them.
Mr Kenu, as a sequel to the incident, had urged Asamoah Gyan at a press conference at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi to use the platform to clear the air on the matter. That however did not go down well with Gyan and subsequently his brother, who with others descended on the journalist to beat him up.
Two of those who assaulted Kenu, including one Samuel Anim Addo, a known errand boy for Asamoah Gyan, were arrested Saturday morning and kept in custody and were later released on police enquiry bail.
They are to report to the police on Monday to assist in investigations.
