Political scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr Samuel Adu Gyamfi, has noted majority of journalists in the country are serving the nation with hunger.
According to him this has resulted in the influence of politicians from various political parties which mars the professionalism of various journalists in the country.
Dr. Samuel Adu Gyamfi reiterated ‘‘if employers of the various media houses want a successful nation to live in, then they must pay their employees well ‘’ to prevent political influence on the media.
Speaking to Sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako on Royal fm’s morning show, he noted that the media must find a way of coming together to fight for their right and future.
‘‘Journalists will continue to sing praises to the tune of politicians until they are well paid’’ he stressed.
Dr. Samuel Adu Gyamfi further criticized people who get into the profession with the aim of making wealth but not their passion to serve the country due to the high rate of unemployment in the country.
Oh yes, a free and impartial press with quality investigative journalism is a major key to democracy.
