Ghana News-Communications Director for Zylofon media; Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo says Ghanaians should disregard assertions the label deserted Joyce Blessings’ charity project at the 11th hour.
Arnold explains there is no truth in the story going round and also expresses disappointment in Joyce Blessing and her team failing to use available channels of redress and opting to “make noise on radio”.
“There’s a binding contract between the label and all artistes under the label. The contract specifically has to do with music-related activities. We manage the artiste and help them record, promote, market their work. Anything outside that…if it’s a private engagement, all the label has to do is to approve and give its blessings. We only have to ascertain whether it does not affect any provision of the contract, we give our blessing to it and he or she can go and do her thing.”
Background
What was presumed to be an exciting moment for Joyce Blessing and her fans as she embarked on her first and official project since she signed on to the Zylofon Music Record label turned out to be a disappointment.
Joyce Blessings’ team led by her husband and manager; Dave Joy have been explaining that the gospel musician was to be led by her managers, Zylofon Music to officially launch the ‘Joyce Blessing Help Me Grow Foundation’ and donate to the Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern region but she was allegedly deserted, leaving her with a colleague gospel musicians, Superintendent (SP) Kofi Sarpong and veteran musician Blind Messiah, who was invited to help give back to his former school.
They say the artiste was betrayed by Zylofon Music at the eleventh hour.
They explain that a proposal of the project and a detailed budget of thirty-two thousand Ghana cedis (GHc32,000) was presented to Arnold Asamoah Baidoo (Zylofon Music Communication Director) and Lawrence Asiamah Hanson also known as Bulldog (Head – Artist and Repertoire at Zylofon Music) for their perusal and later confirmed to team Joyce Blessing that the green light had been given.
Dave Joy however says he was forced to shoulder the bill to avert disgrace.
“Zylofon Music wasn’t present at the Akropong School for the Blind for the launch though they were the main sponsors…They told us the GH32,000 budget was too much. Arnold and Bulldog were part of those who approved the budget”, Dave explained.
Zylofon music’s reaction
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo who spoke to Eli Kharis on the Buzz segment on Rythmz Live on GhOne tv however says Joyce Blessing and her team are not being “Professional” in their handling of the issue.
He says he expected Joyce to engage the label and express her grievance taking advantage of her cordial relationship with the label but has not and is rather “making a lot of noise on radio”.
