KATH Accident Victims Receive Consumables From Kumasi Mayor.

The Kumasi Mayor, Hon Samuel Pyne on Monday donated items such as toiletries, detergents, hospital consumables and a hospital bed to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The gesture, the Mayor told media persons, formed part of the celebration of World Remembrance Day for Crash Victims.
The Mayor stated that unlike previously where public events are held to commemorate the day in Kumasi, he suggested to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to rather donate these items to the Unit and use the opportunity to visit patients and victims of accidents.
‘’Today is World Remembrance Day For Crash Victims and the Assembly supported by our partners Bloomberg Philanthropies decided to donate these items including bandages, tissue paper, bottled water and the rest to patients who are accident victims. We also plan to talk with victims as we visit them at the beds’’, the Mayor noted.
Caution To Drivers:
The Kumasi Mayor cautioned drivers to be careful as the yuletide and the new -year festivities rear their head.
He noted that good drivers were the ones who embark on their duties with caution and not those who are fixated on going more rounds even when they are tired and sleepy.
The KMA, he stated, would in the coming days double up measures to conscientize the citizenry including commercial and private drivers about the season that was fast approaching so that they take precautions about the same.
‘’I want to use this opportunity to advise drivers, especially commercial vehicle drivers to be cautious on the road seeing that during these times there are a lot of people who visit the cities to trade and other business. It’s my hope they obey traffic rules and drive carefully so that they can arrive safely with their passengers at all times’’, the Hon Pyne stated.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital, Chief Executive Officer for KATH, Professor Otchere Addai Mensah thanked the Mayor for the gesture.
The CEO recalled that the hospital recently received some waste bins from the KMA, adding that this support showed that the Assembly and the Mayor had KATH at heart.
‘’It is gladdening to see the KMA and in particular the Mayor of Kumasi show so much support to KATH by paying money to enable us renovate this facility as well as provide us with waste bins so we can keep the facility tidy at time and I on behalf of this hospital want to say we are grateful’’, the CEO stated.
The CEO asked other public and private organisations and outfits to emulate the actions of KMA and the Mayor and also donate to support the Heal Komfo Anokye Hospital project, an initiative meant to renovate all blocks at the facility.
