The incumbent MP for Bimbilla, who also double as the Deputy Minority Leader in parliament, Hon Dominic Nitiwul, has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay away from exacting revenge on members of the out-going National Democratic Congress (NDC) who may have wronged them before the December 7th general elections.
According to him, the NPP as a true democratic party believes in the rule of law and will never pride itself in the beating up people or the seizure of government installations just because it won political power.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Hon Nitiwul rather appealed that supporters use their energies and strengths to pray for the president-elect so as to be able to execute the four year mandate the people of Ghana had bestowed on him.
‘’We as proponents for the rule of law cannot by ourselves go contrary to what we believe as a party by going about beating people from the opposite and seizing state properties since that will be the lowest point we can sink’’, the Deputy Minority Leader noted.
PATIENCE:
Hon Nitiwul asked for patience from NPP supporters as well as the public to ensuring the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo prosecutes a focused system of governance even as he prepares to take the mantle of government from January 7th, 2017.
According to him, Nana Addo would need the patience and prayers of the public to lay down all policies and programs he promised during the electioneering period.
‘’Nana Addo needs the patience of every Ghanaian to put into place his policies and plans for the Ghanaian people’’, the deputy minority leader stressed.
He noted the desire of the president-elect to fulfill all the promises he made to the electorate in his first term of office.
According to him, Nana Addo was very much concerned about the lack of jobs for the youth as well as the high cost of goods and services in the country and was determined to reverse the worrying trend left by the NDC government.
CAUTION:
In a passionate tone, Hon Nitiwul cautioned members and spokespersons of the NPP about their public utterances, adding the NDC was voted out of governance because of the arrogance they exuded.
He, therefore, commended the former MP for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah for boldly apologizing for some comments he made in reaction to demands from some trainee teachers who called for the speedy fulfillment of promises made to them by the president-elect.
Nana Addo, during the recent electioneering period promised to restore the trainee teachers’ allowance which was unfortunately taken away by the out-going NDC administration.
But, commenting on the demands from the trainee teachers just a week after the NPP won the recent general election Mr Jumah indicated it was ridiculous to push such demands on the president-elect when he is yet to assume the reins of government.
However, when his attention was drawn to the harshness of his statement, Mr Jumah humbly apologized and showed remorse for his over the board reaction.
