KMA Boss talks tough on sanitation

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon Osei Assibey Antwi says his outfit will deal ruthlessly with anyone found flouting the sanitation by-laws of the Assembly.

He was angry with folks who throw refuse anywhere they find.

He was speaking during a clean-up exercise held by the Assembly Saturday ahead of the 61st Independence day celebration.

In November and December 2017, the courts sentenced eleven persons to one month imprisonment each for indiscriminately disposing off waste. The Chief Executive says it will not end there. He vows that any person found flouting any of the sanitation by-laws will be arrested and prosecuted to deter others from spreading filth.

He also appealed to the public to form the habit of cleaning their environs always.

He believes the Assembly’s concept of making the city clean and green has yielded results because waste generated in the Central Business District (CBD)has been reduced.
