“Know your GPS address”-Dr. Bawumia urges public

The Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamodu Bawumia has urged the public to ensure they get to know their various GPS addresses so as to be able to be part of government programs and projects.

According to him, the NPP government is determined to using modern trends of technology in accelerating the pace of the country’s development.

This, he posited is a sure way of making the Ghanaian economy a formal one which stresses on digitization of projects and programs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Regional Minister’s Conference in Kumasi on the theme ‘Strategic Planning towards a Ghana Beyond Aid’, the Vice-President encouraged the respective regional ministers to educate the people on the need for them to know their various addresses on the Ghana Post Map.

Dr Bawumia mentioned that the upcoming registration of people across the country on the National Identification Authority (NIA) system will be based on one’s ability to locate his or her address on the Ghana Post System.

LITIGATION:
The Vice-President indicated the eradication of various litigations that arise out of land disputes once the National ID card is rolled out.

This, he said is because land title documents can only be given to one person since everyone will be having a unique identification number.

Others who also used to default in the payment of the loans they contracted from the banks will not be able to do so again since their identification numbers will give them away.

Government and its local agencies, the Vice President hinted can also plan well since the right data will be made available to them once the ID card project is completed.

OTHER SPEAKERS:
Welcoming his colleague regional ministers as well as the invited guests to the conference, Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister noted the importance for the country to work to ensure they are self-supportive of the projects they intend carrying out.

The ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ target by the President, he reinforced can be achieved if there is a collective effort from the government as well as its allied agencies to use funds they collect from the populace to develop the country.

Nana Adu-Gyamfi II, the Adontenhene of Asantehene who chaired the opening ceremony urged the regional ministers to lead the way by explaining properly the policies of the government to their residents.

This, he noted will ensure the populace gets along with the programs and projects government plans to carry out in the country.
