A final year Painting and Sculpture student, Nana Kay, of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as part of his final projects, made an astounding art work inspired by what he termed as “career
hazards”.
At an exhibition hosted by the student, he explained to the team from Focus FM, the concept behind the
art works.
“My artwork explores the emotional links between the human forms and histories that are embedded in
them, merging them into one sculptural presentation, complimenting one another in aesthetics. The art
was influenced by career hazards. Each profession has its own hazards.
People go to farms and get cut by the cutlass, soldiers go to war and lose part of their bodies in the process. It is with this idea that my works were developed as you can see some part of the bodies of the art work taken off.” He explained.
Continuing, he revealed to us in the hard work, dedication and time that had to be put in the artwork as
he used models and himself to craft the bodies of the sculptures.
