KNUST: College Of Science Establishes Laboratory For Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis

As part of efforts at increasing the quantity and quality of statistics and data science to advance high-impact research a collaborative laboratory has been commissioned at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Located on the third floor of the Casely Hayford Building, the KNUST Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (LISA), established to operate under the College of Science (CoS) would among others, train statisticians and data scientists to become interdisciplinary collaborators.

The Centre would also provide research infrastructure to enable and accelerate quantitative research for patrons.

Opening the LISA, Provost of the College of Science (CoS), Professor Mrs. Ibok Oduro, said the laboratory would engage with the Community to improve statistical skills and literacy, while offering services such as collaboration, training/short courses and walk-in consultation.

Professor Mrs. Oduro called on the university community to take advantage of the facility to help in their preparation of reports, preliminary data for future projects, theses/dissertations and workshops.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rexford Assasie Oppong, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), said as an academic institution solidly grounded on research, teaching and community service, the establishment of the Laboratory was timely to check the authenticity of research data from students and provide assistance and resources to patrons and the University community.
